The admission at the Doctoral School of Physics is organized in agreement with the procedures detailed in the Regulation on the organization and deployment of the admission exam at doctoral studies of the University of Bucharest

Research subjects proposed for admission at doctoral studies - 2026

The admission session at doctoral studies in Physics will be organized as follows:
July 2026:
registration: 1-21 July
colloquium: 22-24 July
31 July - last day for results posting

September 2026 (organized only if the budgeted places offered in July will not be occupied):
registration: 31 August-10 September
colloquium: 11-12 September
16 September - last day for results posting

The admission exam in both sessions will take place in the Conference Room of the Faculty of Physics (Library), on directions of study. Details regarding the colloquia schedule on the directions of study will be announced immediately after the registration closes
The admission exam in July is organized on:
a) budgeted places with scholarship - 14
b) budgeted places without scholarship - 15
c) places with fee - 20
(the fee for the university year 2025/2026 is 13600 lei for doctoral students from Romania, EU states, European Economic Space states, Swiss Confederation and ethnic Romanians, and 3700-3900 Euro for doctoral students from non-EU states; see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yYbPC7XBcdbS7hpYlqit4U82qX0i_Ody/view)

Registration fee for the admission exam: 250 lei
Payment:

- by POS at the Faculty of Physics
- in cash at the Pay Office of the University of Bucharest (a proof of payment is needed in this case)
- online, at http://www.po.unibuc.ro/ (a proof of online transfer completion is needed in this case)


According to national legislation OMEN 7296/2024, the grants offered by the National Education Ministry amount to 3700 lei per month.
There is also the possibility to employ on a fixed period doctoral students on research grants implemented in the laboratories where the doctoral supervisors work
Before registration for the admission exam, the candidates are strongly encouraged to contact the doctoral supervisor on whose vacant position they intend to compete, in order to obtain his/her consent on supervision if successful at the admission exam

Doctoral candidates, who are non-EU citizens or ethnic Romanians/Romanians from abroad, should contact the International Relations Direction of the University of Bucharest for registration to the admission exam at doctoral studies. Take into account that these procedures may require time for completion. The following information could help:

Doctoral candidates, who have studied abroad, are required to present at registration the attestation of recognition of the studies issued by the proper direction of the Ministry of National Education. In this respect, please follow the procedures detailed here.

During the admission exam, questions on general knowledge will be asked also based on the selective bibliography specific for the study direction chosen by the candidate.
